OUZO VANTANA 100% DISTILLED

Ouzo was one of the first products developed by Panagiotis Vantanas back in 1904, when he opened his distillery in Patras.

It takes a great recipe and with unparalleled craftsmanship to produce a really good Ouzo.

The unique recipe of Vantana Ouzo 100% distilled includes a wide variety of nuts, herbs and seeds, such as anise, fennel, coriander, star anise, mastic, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg etc. However, its recipe is secret, so not all its ingredients can be revealed! A total of 15 fruits, herbs and seeds are included.
The production of Vantana Ouzo 100% distilled is a long process, an actual ritual.

After harvest, anise and fennel are dried, sieved and placed in special sacks. The sacks are then carefully stored in a designated area under constant temperature and humidity conditions.
The soft and crystal clear water from the springs of the Erymanthos Mountains is an important ingredient of the Vantana Ouzo 100% distilled, as it accounts for the special character of the Ouzo.
(Distillation is carried out in the exact same way as it was delivered to future generations by the original creator, Panagiotis Vantanas.

In handmade copper stills - distilleries, built-in with a special heat flow surrounding them, which makes them ideal for traditional distillation.
The stills used by the distillery have, to this day, been manufactured by the same family of coppersmiths.
A built-in still offers a higher quality of ouzo distillate.
This ensures excellent quality of spirit and guarantees the authenticity of Vantana Ouzo 100% distilled.
During the distillation process, the heads and tails – i.e. the initial and last part of the distillation – are discarded and only the central part, the “heart” is kept, which is also the best and most palatable part of the distillate.
Each distillation of Vantana Ouzo 100% distilled is carried out in a slow process and lasts for several hours. This ensures a top-quality result, with a perfect balance of aromas and flavours, and a smooth and refined texture. )
This distillate, once diluted down to the desired alcohol by volume and filtered, is then left to mature and homogenize for a long time before being it is bottled.
This produces this sophisticated and delicate ouzo with an enthusiastic aroma, velvet pallet and a wonderful finish.
It is best enjoyed with water or ice or even neat, for those who prefer a more traditional touch, wishing to slowly discover its primary aromas. Cold water allows Vantana Ouzo 100% distilledto reach the right temperature, highlights its rich aroma, reveals the iconic cloudy texture of pure distillate that many desire and intensifies its palette.
Perfect for a sunny moment, enjoyed by the sea, with good friends and yummy meze dishes.
It is ideally accompanied with shellfish, prawns, octopus, hard roe, mussels, seafood pasta, red mullet, sea bass, sea bream, snapper and many other fish.
It is also excellently combined with various Greek cheeses such as feta, mizithra, halloumi, arseniko, graviera, ladotyri and of course with rich salads in various combinations.
Vantana Ouzo 100% distilled is also enjoyed as a long drink, with the discreet addition of fresh ingredients such as spearmint, mint, basil, cucumber, orange, lemon.
Its character is “sealed” in a cork cap bottle, featuring a label in white and red.
